Hunter's Ale House FAWCETTS OPEN SEASON
The Fawcetts opened their 2007 with a pair of DH’s
against the Brookfield Elks. The Fawcetts won the opener on
Saturday 11-6. Mike Bishop was solid in the circle picking up the
win. Jamie MacDonald led the offensive attack with 4 hits. Jason
Gallant and Mark Arsenault had 3 hits each.
The second game had Brookfield Elks pitcher Pat Slaunwhite shut
down the Fawcetts attack in route to a 4-2 Elks victory. Losing
Chris Craig had no help from the Fawcetts offense as they could
only manage 5 hits. 2 from Jamie MacDonald and Mark Arsenault.
Cory McKeigan had the other Fawcett hit.
Sunday the Fawcetts offense came to live again. Led by Team
Canada member Jeff Ellsworth and Chris Craig. They each had four
hits including two hr’s by Craig. Craig was also solid in
the circle picking up the win. Final score was 10-6.
The final game of the series was a 10-6 loss for the Fawcetts
although that score was overshadowed by the hitting of Ellsworth.
He went deep on three consecutive at bats. In all Coach Doug Hines
was happy with the performance with the team over the weekend.
The Fawcetts will be competing in this year’s nationals
in St. John’s Nfld. Aug 26 to Sept 2. They are currently
selling tickets on their annual elimination draw. Tickets are $100
with a $10000 top prize. Tickets can be purchased from any Fawcett
member or at Razzy’s Roadhouse

FAWCETTS HEAD TO NATIONALS
CHARLOTTETOWN - The Fawcetts are heading to St. Thomas, ON to
compete in the 2005 Canadian Senior Men's Fastpitch
Championship. The Fawcetts had a busy summer playing in the Source
for Sports Fastpitch league and competing in the following: Pictou
Extreme Tourney, Fawcetts Canada Day Tourney, Fredriction/Oromocto
Tourney, and the Annual Hitmen Showdown Tournament.

FAWCETTS LEAD TOP BATTERS
ALBERTON - Six of the top nine spots in this week's top
hitters in the Source for Sports Men's Fast Pitch League are
from the Charlottetown Razzy's Roadhouse Fawcetts, who will be
heading to the Senior Canadian Men's Nationals in St. Thomas,
Ont along with the Kinkora Hitmen in late August. That list is led
by leader Mark Arsenault (.542), third place Steve Bishop (.390),
Jason Blanchard (.368) and Jamie MacDonald (.367) round out the
top five for Charlottetown. Also among the top nine in sixth is
pitcher Mike Bishop (.353) while Chris Craig (.306) rounds out the
top hitters with at least 26 recorded at bats. The only
non-Fawcett players in the top hitters is second place Peter
McCardle of the Kinkora O'Shea Pub and Eatery Hitmen (.484),
and a St. Louis Storm duo of Jonathan Broderick (.317) in seventh
and Sandy Shea (.310) in eighth.
For pitching, the Hitmen's Frank MacAree leads the way with
a 1.04 ERA while Chris Craig is the top Fawecetts pitcher sitting
second at 1.87 ERA.

INTERNATIONAL SOFTBALL TEAMS TO PLAY GAMES IN CHARLOTTETOWN
CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Mayor Clifford Lee in conjunction
with the Charlottetown Razzy’s Fawcetts Fastball Club
announced today that world-class exhibition softball games will be
held in Charlottetown with two of the top softball countries in
the world.
Present by the City of Charlottetown - Team Canada will play a
doubleheader against the Charlottetown Razzy’s Fawcetts
Fastball Club on June 21st, with games at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The following night June 22nd, the Fawcetts will host Team New
Zealand for a doubleheader, with games at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Both Team Canada and Team New Zealand are favorites in the
upcoming ISF Junior Men’s World Softball Championship.
Team Canada is currently carrying out their selection camp in
Waterloo Ontario. Jeremy MacKinnon from Brackley Beach and Fawcett
player is one of the 25 vying for a position on this year’s
team.
Team New Zealand is coached by two softball legends in Mark
Sorenson and Dion Nukunuku. The Black Sox is currently playing an
exhibition schedule across the United States before arriving in
Charlottetown.
Mayor Lee noted, “Charlottetown is recognized as a
premiere sporting event destination and is well-positioned to
offer the finest experience and hospitality to the world. We look
forward to rolling out the red carpet and welcoming Team Canada
and Team New Zealand to the Birthplace of Confederation,
especially during our 150th Anniversary of Incorporation”.
All games will be played at Central Field in Charlottetown,
with admission free of charge.
